Caring for your Great Dane's health

Giant breeds have a shorter life expectancy and need consistent veterinary follow-up. The ideal is a routine check-up every 6 months in the adult phase of a Great Dane.

Watch out for gastric torsion (bloat): it is an emergency that requires immediate care. Signs include a swollen abdomen, excessive drooling and unproductive attempts to vomit.

Hip dysplasia and heart conditions are also points of attention for the Great Dane. Periodic imaging exams and echocardiograms help with early diagnosis.

Keep vaccination and deworming up to date. Prevention always costs less than treatment — and gives your Great Dane more healthy years by your side.
