Puppy socialization: the first 3 months

The socialization window runs roughly from 3 to 14 weeks of age. What the Great Dane puppy experiences in this period shapes how it deals with the adult world.

Introduce sounds, surfaces, people and other animals gradually, always paired with something positive. An adult Great Dane is far too big to carry around unaddressed fears.

Respect the vaccination schedule: until full immunization, prefer controlled environments for your Great Dane puppy.

Positive reinforcement is the foundation. Never force the puppy into a situation that frightens it — a confident, well-socialized Great Dane becomes the gentle giant the breed is known for.
